David Cookson
David is a skilled aerospace worker with over 30 years experience in this
profession. David has used his knowledge of the aerospace industry to create
quality stainless steel sculpture and nutty characters.
These sculptures often sit, stand and, at times, climb up a variety of
unusual stone and wooden bases collected from around the world; stones such
as rainbow stone from Turkey, marble from Italy and hand selected pieces of
slate from Wales and the Lake District. The woods which David uses include
maparmy, zebrano, cherry, sycamore and unique pieces of driftwood which he
either leaves in a semi natural state of turns for a smooth tactile finish.
The wonderful colours and textures of these bases beautifully compliment the
reflective and manmade qualities of the stainless steel.
David is largely influenced by his love of gardening and the country,
creating pieces which reflect both the creatures and characters which can be
found out and about enjoying the great outdoors, David's depictions of the
daring thrill seekers, and the more gentle among us, are wonderfully amusing
and greatly detailed.
Perfect for the home, office and garden David's imaginative and striking
pieces appeal to all ages, and have delighted David's family and friends.
Some even say that these 'nutty characters' are based on his own
personality, though David refutes this notion!

Rene Cryer
After training as a teacher in the early 60's Rene taught art and crafts
in both middle and secondary schools. But in 1992 after 29 years of teaching
she got the opportunity to take early retirement and concentrate on
developing her own work in ceramics.
Pottery has been an important part of Rene's life for some time, owing a
large kiln since 1964 and having a studio in Littleborough. She now works
from home and once every fortnight holds presentations at Haigh Hall in
Wigan.
Rene's ceramics manifest in many forms, at times domestic and sometimes
very sculptural.. Much of her influence comes from nature, especially fish
and birds. However it is plant life which gives her the greatest
inspiration, not only in from but in colour as well.
Over the years Rene has had a great deal of success selling her ceramics
in galleries in several counties, and during her time with the
Wensley Gallery she has become a firm
favourite with her work being instantly recognised and collected by many.
