Aurora is an Italian jeweller based in Barton, Cambridgeshire, where she
lives with her husband and two children. Aurora has always had an interest
in crafts, particularly jewellery, and in 2002 she left her 9 year career as
a research biologist to concentrate on the more creative side of her nature.
Working with sheet silver and silver wire, with the occasional highlight
of 9ct and 18ct gold, Aurora produces an eclectic range of work which ranges
from the very contemporary to the more classic. The mainstay of her
inspiration comes from a fascination with light, colour and reflection. This
has led her to incorporate a mix of contrasting textures created through a
variety of methods, including hammering, engraving, reticulation and
stamping.
Many of Auroras pieces are further embellished with semiprecious stones,
swarovski crystal and Millefiori beads giving her work a colourful and
feminine look. The Millefiori beads take their name from their native Italy
and literally translates as 'thousand flowers'. These beads, which are hand
made by skilled craftsmen in Murano, near Venice, have practically become
Aurora's signature as they represent her love of colour, reflection and, of
course, her Italian roots.
Aurora's jewellery is truly beautiful and incorporates a wide range of
techniques and materials which achieve her aim to "create unique jewellery
that is elegant, colourful and comfortable to wear".
