Mary Edyvean Mary was born in Bury and
still lives and paints locally. Training initially at Bury School of Art,
she worked as an embroidery designer, then as a commercial artist before
marriage and raising a family. She later began teaching
crafts in hospitals and care homes for the elderly, and her desire to more
creative drew her to painting sculpture which have become a major part of
her busy life.
She has exhibited and sold her work throughout the North and
at the Mall Gallery, London. Having worked in every media, she now
concentrates mainly on pastel and watercolour works of flowers and
landscapes, often painted in situ. Her paintings materials go with her
wherever she travels, so as well as her much loved local scenes, her depicts
scenery from far and wide. Mary is very much involved with
the local arts being Chairman of the Bury Art Society, a member of both
Salford and Bolton Societies, and also a Pendle Artist. As Chairman of the
Bury Arts and Crafts User Group Committee Mary she has fought for many years
to save the building and its provision within for the good for the
community. She was also instrumental in the foundation of the
Wensley gallery and remains one of our
most respected artists. |
